We’ve pulled our, still very handsome, 2007 iMac 7,1 out for a little more attention. This time, we’re going to install MacOS 10.11 (El Capitan).

So this iMac has already featured on the channel, we installed Linux Mint and it worked pretty well, though it’s a little less optimised than MacOS is on this piece of kit. Of course, optimisation means nothing if we can’t get updates, so this is likely to be short lived, but I thought we’d do it all the same.

Slight challenge in that we never bothered cleaning this Mac when we bought it, by cleaning, I mean, reinstalling the OS and it only became apparent to us that we didn’t know the previous owners password when we tried the install, so this install is actually a little different as we’ll need an external USB to act as an install disk allowing us to completely wipe the existing installation and start again.
